Lorraine & Martin 7th October 2017

What an amazing day…

I had the pleasure of getting to know Lorraine and Martin with an engagement shoot, a shoot I had thoroughly enjoyed so when I woke up that morning I was expecting a great day but my expectations were massively exceeded.

Lorraine and her family are artists and her house is filled with beautiful paintings and drawings, Lorraine herself did the amazing artwork for both the invitation and the mass booklet. As an art graduate myself I was delighted to find myself in like-minded company.

My old friend Mike Flannery of Seabury Studio was on duty as videographer which guarantees me a good day. As usual, we both started with documenting the details and, as usual too, starting chatting and were both in agreement that Lorraine, her family and bridesmaids were some of the nicest people we’d ever met. Ever.

I was ably assisted for the day by Anita Murphy who, when I arrived at the church, updated me on her morning with Martin and his family, gave me a similar raving report.

The ceremony was at St Columbanus, the chapel at NUIG, a beautiful, informal church and one of my favourites. It was a wonderful ceremony, personalised by music played and sung by friends of Lorraine and Martin and a beautiful reflection read by Lorraine’s mother, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. It was so wonderful to witness Lorraine and Martin’s closeness, their pure, genuine love and happiness and how easily they made each other laugh.

After the ceremony and family photos, we went around the corner to the NUIG quad to take some photos with the bridal party. It was an easy and fun shoot, the bridal party were so full of enthusiasm and seemed to enjoy themselves as much as myself and Anita did! We made good use of the colours of the season, using the beautiful ivy of NUIG and the fallen leaves as confetti. Lorraine and Martin were my dream couple, always smiling and eager to try something new. We had an absolute ball.

The reception was held at the wonderful Ardilaun Hotel on Taylors Hill, another favourite of mine. I love the garden of the Ardilaun and Lorraine and Martin were keen to come outside again to take full advantage of the beautiful autumn light, the colours and to have a quiet moment before the festivities began in earnest!

After dinner and speeches there were surprise Irish Dancers followed by dancing and music with Tightrope who immediately filled the dance floor!

I left after 11pm absolutely elated.

Lorraine and Martin, I want to thank you most sincerely for making me a part of your wedding, it was such a pleasure to get to know you both and your families. Your bridal party was one of the nicest bunch of people I’ve ever had the good fortune to meet, Anita and Mike both agree! You were a joy to photograph and a delight to be around. I wish you nothing but the very best xx
